La Divina Misericordia

Day of the Divine Mercy

On Sunday, April 8th, the first Sunday after Easter, we celebrate the day of Divine Mercy.
Saint Faustina received mystical revelations in which Jesus showed her his heart, source of Mercy, and expressed his desire to establish its celebration on the Sunday after Easter Sunday.
With John Paul II, on May 23, 2000, the celebration of the Divine Mercy was decreed, celebrated thereafter on the second Sunday of Easter. It was the pope who announced it weeks before during the canonization of Faustina Kowalska: "Throughout the world, the second Sunday of Easter will be called Sunday of the Divine Mercy. A perennial invitation for the Christian world to confront, with confidence in divine benevolence, the difficulties and trials that await the human race in the upcoming years ».
In order to properly celebrate this festivity, we must pray the Chaplet and the Novena to the Divine Mercy; examination of conscience, confession and receiving Holy Communion on the day of the Divine Mercy.
